He sleeps with his back against something and his nose tucked under a paw. That's not a preference — it's instinct.

Curling up and pressing against a raised edge is how dogs and cats have always slept: it conserves heat and protects the vulnerable side. A flat mat gives them nothing to press into, so they end up wedged against a wall or a sofa leg instead.

Puffling is built as a raised rim around a soft centre.

The wall gives him something to lean into and a place to rest his head; the deep filling means his weight doesn't bottom out onto the floor underneath.

Why it works
